What Do a Keyboard Switch Keycap Do?
A keycap is a small silicone rubber plastic metal cover placed over the button/key switch of a keypad/keyboard/computer keyboard.
Keycaps are often illustrated to indicate the key function or alphanumeric character they correspond to.

If just manufacturer individual/single keycap, compression molding is enough.
If need to make one part with two different materials, such as silicone rubber and plastic part. Because plastic parts are not resistant to high temperature, and will melt if they are put in a mold together with silicone rubber products. At this situation, we will apply liquid silicone injection molding which is working in low temperature range, will not destroy the plastic parts. This process is called over-molding.
Generally, over-molding is more expensive than common compression molding, so another way of assembling plastic keycaps with silicone rubber keypad is useful - glue.
