How To Stick Rubber To Metal Components?

Adding treating agent & adhesive glue evenly coated on the surface of metal parts(such as bonded with nut & screw );
Put plastic(special circumstances will be discussed later)/ coated metal parts in mold;
Arrange silicone rubber material to mold;
Vulcanized silicone rubber will bond with inner plastic/ metal parts;

Why Coating Treating Agent & Adhesive Glue Is Necessary For Rubber Metal Bonding Mount Parts?

The surface of metal and rubber has no directly adhesiveness, they cannot bond perfectly and even fall off, if without coating treating agent/adhesive glue.

How To Bond Silicone Rubber To Metal Parts?

Rubber Injection Molding

This process is suitable for plastic rubber bonding especially(Because plastic parts are not resistant to high temperature, they melt easily if don't use injection molding which is a low temperature molding way. ), also rubber metal bonding is okay. Through this process, the silicone rubber material is liquid and can inject into all cavities evenly and effectively.
Factory people only need to put plastic or metal part in the injection mold, then the injection mold will be closed and begin injecting silicone rubber material automatically from needle valves to surface of plastic/metal parts, then open injection mold and demould automatically.
 
Advantages of injection molding:
1. More higher precision silicone rubber metal/plastic components with better control of dimensions tolerance.
2. More effective production efficiency, lower waste of silicone rubber material and higher degree of automation.

Compression Molding

By this process, put metal part directly into cavity of mold, then put prepared silicone rubber material on the surface of metal part and begin compression molding. Finally, the silicone rubber metal bonding is completely.

Transfer Molding

Transfer molding requires a "pot" located between the top plate and a middle/bottom plate. When the metal part is placed into the cavity of mold, put the silicone rubber material into the "pot", then the mold is closed and the silicone rubber material is compressed by the top plate and transfer through the "plunger" into the cavity below. Finally, the silicone rubber metal over-molding bonding is finished.
 
Advantages of transfer molding:
1. Tighter control of dimensional tolerance - the mold is not held open by excess material spilling out of the cavity parting line; all the excess hold the plunger open from the pot.
2. Higher utilization rate and conversion rate of silicone rubber materials. when put the whole prepared rubber material into the "pot", the silicone rubber can be compressed fully and more uniform, then flow from the plunger into all cavities of mold, not only can reduce silicone rubber waste, improve production efficiency, but also can cover the metal parts more steadily and easily.
3. Smaller flash/burrs on the finished rubber metal bonding. The silicone rubber material is compressed fully in the "pot", will form a complete flash/burrs like a complete plate below the "pot" rather than on rubber metal bonding.
